We have been getting very creative with simple cardboard lately and I love how easy it is to use. Fall is right around the corner and we just made a pumpkin out of cardboard so I thought it would be fun to try and make an owl.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. Cardboard

2. Hot glue

3. X-acto knife

4. Scissors

5. Black paint

6. Orange paint

7. Paint brush

The first step is to cut your cardboard into strips. You can make  your strips as wide and as long as you want. My strips will be about 5 inches wide.

I will be using a total of 6 strips for my owl. My strips are 5 inches wide and 39 inches long.

You will want to peel the cardboard off of one side of each strip.

You will want one side if each strip to have the corrugated cardboard showing.

You will begin to roll one strip with the corrugated side facing outward. Once you have the strip rolled you will glue the end in place. I used 4 strips of cardboard for the body of the owl. You will continue the next strip right after the previous one.

Once I had the body made I then rolled one strip for each eye.

You will glue the eyes to the top of the body.

I cut out two small strips of cardboard to look like eye brows.

You will also want to cut two small circles for eyes and a triangle for a beak.

I painted the eyes and beak and then glued them in place.

You will want to press the center area of the eyes in and then glue the black circles in place.

I glued my owl onto a candle pillar stick that you can find on our website down below.

This owl is very easy to make and I love how we used a recycled item to make it. I hope you will get creative and give this a try.
