We’re always trying to come up with unique ways to use recycled items. I recently had a few light bulbs blow out in my chandelier and once I removed the light bulbs I realized they can be turned into some fun and unique carrots.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. Candelabra base light bulb

2. Brown paper bag

3. Scissors

4. Hot glue

5. Paint brush

6. Americana Gel Stain by Deco Art ( color Walnut)

7. Americana acrylic paint by DecoArt ( colors Spiced Pumpkin and Hauser Medium Green)

I cut the paper bag open to be one long sheet and then painted both sides with the Hauser Medium Green.

I set the paper bag aside to dry and then I painted the light bulbs. The light bulb will take 2 coats of the Spiced Pumpkin colored paint.

I used the Walnut colored gel stain to give the appearance of ridges in the carrot.

I cut the paper into a 4 inch wide strip.

The next step is to cut slits into the strip. Be sure not to cut to the end.

You’ll add hot glue to the end of the light bulb and wrap some of the paper around the light bulb as shown in photo above.

I wrapped the paper twice around the end of the light bulb.

These are so quick and easy to make. I love how they can be added to anything for a touch of Spring. I hope you’ll get creative and give this a try.
