I have been wanting a fun and unique way to display our brooches that we have made here at The Shabby Tree. I always try to share an idea and I hope to inspire you to change it up and create it your way. This decorative dress form can be created and decorated in a variety of ways.

The three main supplies you will need to create your decorative dress form are:

1. Two wired mesh baskets from the Dollar Tree

2. Wire cutters

3. Zip ties

The first step is to cut half of of the wired basket from the top. Be sure to only go half way around.

Next step is to form the waistline of your dress form.

You will want to squeeze around the bottom half of the basket. This will form your waistline.

Next you will want to find the center on the opposite side of the basket that you cut. Take your hands and bend the center downward forming a v shape.

Next you will need to bend the backside down

Bend the metal frame downward and bend the metal mesh part over.

Your basket should now have the v shape in front and a lower dip in the back.

You now need to connect the 2 baskets together. Your lower basket should have the bottom of the basket facing up. Connect the 2 together using zip ties.

I used 3 zip ties to make sure they are securely held together. Be sure that you have both baskets evenly lined up together.

Once you have your dress form complete it is time to decorate it. I am using some muslin material, burlap and a crochet doily to decorate my dress form.

I ripped strips of muslin about 23 inches long and 1 inch wide.

I am inserting the strip of muslin into the bottom of the top basket of my dress form. You will want to go through one hole and pull the strip through the next hole.

I am not tying the strips. You will want to insert your next strip into the same hole as your last strip and then bring it through the next hole. You will continue doing this until you completely go around the whole basket.

I want to raise my dress form up so I am adding it to an old wooden spool.

I placed the wooden spool up into the lower basket and added 3 screws to secure it in place.

You can use any type of wooden spindle or even a candle stick to raise your dress form.

Next I cut a large doily and sewed it to the top part of the dress form.

I am using some thin cream twine and a yarn needle.

Once I had the doily in place I then added a strip of burlap ribbon.

I added a handmade broach to the burlap ribbon. This dress form can be for decoration and used to display your jewelry. You can add earrings to the top and your broaches around the waistline.
