When you are a crafter you seem to save everything. I have accumulated a lot of paper towel rolls and I wanted to create something fun with them. Summer is right around the corner and I thought it would be fun to make a flower with a recycled paper towel roll.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. Recycled paper towel or toilet paper roll

2. Scissors

3. Hot glue

4. Twine

5. Yarn (I am using a chenille yarn from Michael’s)

6. A piece of a lace curtain

7. A piece of burlap

8. Wooden clothes pin

9. Green paint and paint brush

The first thing I did was place a mark every inch on my paper towel roll.

I then cut out my rings. You can make these rings as wide as you want but all of mine are one inch wide. I will be using 7 rings total for one flower.

I then traced the center ring in my piece of burlap.

This burlap circle will be glued to the back of the center ring later on. I then cut out 6 lace circles for the petals to my flowers. These will also be glued to the back side of the petals later on.

It is now time to cover the center ring with the twine. I cut a long strip of twine and folded it in half. This made it quicker for wrapping and covering the ring.

Once you have the ring completely covered with the twine you can then glue the burlap circle to the back side of the ring.

You will then wrap the remaining 6 rings the same way but using the chenille yarn.

Once all 6 rings are covered with the chenille yarn you will glue the lace circles to the back side of the rings.

It is now time to glue the rings together.

You will add hot glue to the side of the center ring and then attach the outer rings.

You will want to add hot glue to the sides of the chenille rings as glue them all together.

I cut out two leaves from the burlap and painted them green.

I pinched the leaves at the end and added some hot glue.

I then glued the leaves to the back side of the flower.

I glued on a wooden clothes pin so that I can easily attach the flower to a wreath.

This flower is so easy to make and can be added to so many things. I love how you can use different yarns or twine to create a variety of colors. I hope you will all have fun, get creative and give this a try.
