One of my favorite holidays is Halloween and I love decorating for it! If you’re following The Shabby Tree then you know I love lights and I have lights all throughout my yard. I wanted to create something fun for Halloween that I can add a light to for my front porch.

The supplies you will need are:

1. Glass jar

2. Cheese cloth

3. Scissors

4. Glue gun

5. Black and white acrylic paint

6. Paint brush

I purchased a pack of cheese cloth from Walmart. The first thing I did was coffee stain my cheesecloth. I added a cup of instant coffee to a gallon of water. You can also add som vanilla and cinnamon to the mixture which will give it an amazing smell.

You will need to cut your cheesecloth into strips. I do not measure my strips I just cut them. My strips are not even all the same size.

The first thing I did was paint the white part of my mummies eyes. I did this step first so that I knew where not to wrap my cheesecloth. You want to leave the area where your mummies eyes are open so that the light will shine through.

Added a little hot glue and started wrapping.

I did not add a lot of hot glue. I added the hot glue to the beginning piece and the end piece.

You will wrap as much cheesecloth around the glass jar as you want. The less cheesecloth the more light that will shine through your jar.

When I had my jar all wrapped with the cheesecloth I then added some black to my eyes.

These are so easy to make and I love how you can get creative and make them a variety of sizes! I hope you will all give this a try and make a few for Halloween.

You can add a variety of battery operated lights to the inside of the jar. The light will allow your mummy to glow at night.
