Ok I love creating fun and unique items for my home. If you’re part of The Shabby Tree then you already know that I love having all different types of lights throughout my home. I went through my recycled containers and I think we can easily turn an empty plastic peanut container into a fun and unique lamp.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. One recycled 30oz peanut container

2. One candle stick from our website

3. Burlap and muslin material

4. Scissors

5. Cream colored chalky finish paint by DecoArt

6. Paint brush

7. Dremel

8. Drill and drill bit

9. Hot glue

10. E6000 glue

11. One battery operated light bulb from Amazon

The first step is to remove the label from the peanut container.

The next step is to use the dremel to cut an opening in the bottom center of the peanut container.

You want to cut the opening big enough for the base of the light bulb to go through.

The next step is to drill holes going around the top rim of the peanut container. My holes are about a half an inch apart from each other. Your hole just needs to be big enough to insert a strip of the muslin material through.

I cut 18 strips of the muslin material. Each strip was about 1 inch wide and 8 1/2 inches long.

Once you have your strips cut you’ll then cut a strip of the burlap material to wrap around the peanut container.

I cut my burlap about 5 1/2 inches wide.

You will add hot glue to the top and bottom edge of the burlap and wrap it around the peanut jar.

Once I had the burlap glued onto the jar I then painted the top rim area with the cream colored chalk paint.

Once the cream paint is dry you’ll then add the muslin strips.

Fold the strip in half and then place it through the hole as shown in photo below.

Bring the ends over the top of the container and down through the loop.

Pull the ends tight so that the fabric is secure.

Add all the strips through all of the holes.

I decided to add a chenille ribbon to the bottom of the container. This is optional but I think it adds to the lamp.

You will add some E6000 glue and hot glue to the top of the candlestick.

Place the container on top of the candlestick and then add the light bulb. The light bulb will slide down into the hole at the bottom of the container.

This lamp was very easy to make and will look great any where in my home. I hope you’ll get creative and give this a try.
