Ok Fall is approaching and it’s time to start creating some pumpkins. I love all different types of pumpkins but I thought It would be fun to make a unique light up pumpkin.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. One wire mesh basket from the Dollar Tree

2. Cheesecloth

3. Scissors

4. Hot glue

5. Wire cutters

6. Spanish moss

7. Acrylic paint by DecoArt ( color Spiced Pumpkin)

8. Twine

9. Wooden stem

I purchased my cheesecloth from Walmart. The cheesecloth was white but I coffee stained it and then I dipped it in watered down paint.

I poured the Spiced Pumpkin into some water and then dipped in the cheesecloth. You can find the link down below to see how I coffee stain my items.

Once you have the cheesecloth colored it’s time to cut the basket.

You will want to cut the ring off the top of the basket.

Once you have the top ring cut off you will then cut a hole out of the bottom of the basket.

The next step is to bend in the sides of the top of the basket as shown in photo below.

I bent the sides in and then added some twine to hold the sides in.

Once you have the basket shaped it is then time to add the cheesecloth.

I started wrapping the cheesecloth at the bottom part of the basket.

I added just a little hot glue here and there. You can tuck the end under the other layer of cheesecloth and add a little hot glue to hold it in place.

Once you have the cheesecloth all wrapped it’s time to add the stem.

I cut a small hole in the top of the pumpkin and then I glued the stem and the Spanish moss in place.

You will want to try and separate the cheesecloth at the bottom of the pumpkin and in the center.

I placed a strand of battery operated lights in the pumpkin.

This pumpkin is so easy to make and I hope you will give it a try. You can see how to coffee stain the cheesecloth down below.
