Fall is right around the corner and I wanted to find a way to make some quick and easy pumpkins. We have made a variety of pumpkins here at The Shabby Tree but I want to try and make some using mesh ribbon.

You can make just one pumpkin using the mesh ribbon but I want to create a three tier pumpkin.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. Cardboard

2. Paper plate

3. X-acto knife

4. Scissors

5. One brown paper lunch bag

6. Walnut colored gel stain by DecoArt

7. Black Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint by DecoArt

8.Spiced Pumpkin Americana acrylic paint by DecoArt

9. Sterling Silver Metallic paint by DecoArt

10. Spanish moss

11. Terra cotta pot ( mine is 8.3 in)

12. Black, silver and orange Polypro Mesh Ribbon ( mine is from Hobby Lobby)

13. Paint brush

14. Twine

The first step is to trace the paper plate onto a piece of cardboard.

You will cut the circle out and then cut another circle out in the center. I did not measure my center circle. You just want the center circle big enough to slide the roll of ribbon through.

I painted my cut out the same color as the mesh ribbon.

I used a small piece of twine to hold my starting point together.

You will continue to wrap the mesh ribbon around the cardboard by coming up and through the center hole.

You will do the same process for the silver ribbon and the orange ribbon.

I’ll be stacking my pumpkins so I did cut my round circle for each pumpkin slightly smaller as I went up.

I painted my terra cotta pot with the black chalky finish paint.

I created a stem for my top pumpkin out of the brown paper lunch bag. You will cut the bottom of the bag off and begin to twist the bag a few inches up from the bottom.

I painted my stem with the Walnut color gel stain.

I glued the stem onto some Spanish moss that I placed in the center of the pumpkin.

I placed a strand of battery operated wire lights up through all three pumpkins.

I just love how easy these pumpkins are to make and how pretty they look stacked. You can make these pumpkins as big as you want. I used one roll of mesh ribbon for each one of my pumpkins. My roll of ribbon was 10 inches by 10 yards.

You can make one single pumpkin or you can stack them as I did. I hope you will get creative and give this a try.
