I love antiques and I always love creating things out of old items. I have an old white chippy shutter that I got from a local antique store and I wanted to create something with it. A few of the stores seem to be putting a few Christmas items out which gave me the idea of creating a snowman.

The main supply you will need for this snowman is a shutter. You can use any size shutter that you want. I purchased my shutter from an antique store but you can find wooden shutters in Home Depot and Lowe’s.

Some other supplies I will be using are:

1. One sheet of black foam board from the Dollar Tree

2. Black spray paint

3. Box cutter

4. Scissors

5. Orange paint (I’m using burnt orange by deco art)

6. Paint brush

7. Hot glue

8. Ribbon or a long strip of fabric

You will use the box cutter to cut two long strips of the foam board about 2 inches wide. I then cut one of the strips into small pieces about 1 1/2 inches long.

I cut the small 1 1/2 inch pieces into small circles. These circles will be used for the eyes and mouth of the snowman.

I also used a piece of the foam board strip to cut out a nose for snowman. You will paint the nose with orange paint. I hot glued all of the foam board pieces onto the shutter.

Be sure to place the long strip of foam board at a slant to create the brim of the top hat. You will spray paint the top section of the shutter black to create the hat to the snowman.

I added a small christmas sprig to the hat.

I tied a strip of fabric around the shutter to create the look of a scarf.

This snowman is so easy to create and will look amazing on a front porch. I hope you will get creative and give this a try.
