I was recently in Home Goods and came across some fun and unique placemats. I don’t use placemats on my table but I knew as soon as I saw these what I wanted to do. These placemats are round and look like a flower to me. These will be very easy to use and create a sunflower wreath.

The placemats come in a pack of four and I got them from HomeGoods.

The items I will be using are:

1. Two round placemats from Home Goods

2. Surebonder fabric glue

3. Scissors

4. Wire

5. Muslin material

6. Americana acrylic paint by DecoArt ( colors summer squash and Hauser Medium Green)

The first thing I did was use the summer squash colored paint around the edge of the placemat.

Once I had both placemats painted I then cut out two leave shapes out of the muslin material.

Each leave has 2 layers of fabric. You will then add a piece of wire to each leave as shown in photo above.

You will place the wire onto one piece of the fabric and then add the surebonder fabric glue. Once you have the glue added you will then place the second piece of fabric on top.

Be sure push down onto the fabric and pinch around all of the edges.

Once you have both leaves made you will then paint them with the Hauser Medium Green.

You will add both leaves to one of the placemats using the surebonder fabric glue.

Once you have both leaves glued in place you will add more glue to secure the second placemat on top.

I added a small hang tag and made a raffia bow.

This was very easy to make and can be hung any where on your porch or in your home. I hope this will inspire you to look at things in a fun and unique way.
