If you’re following The Shabby Tree then you all know that I love trees of all kinds and I also love lights. I started decorating for Christmas and I want a few simple cone shaped trees that can light up. These trees will be fun to add to your fireplace mantle or gathered together in the center of a table.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. Tin cookie sheets from the Dollar Tree

2. Glue gun

3. Scissors

4. Tape measure

5. Marker

6. Wooden kabob stick

7. Sheet of styrofoam

8. Green paint (this is optional)

You will need at least 3 tin cookie sheets to make 3 trees in a variety of sizes. The first step is to cut the edge of the cookie sheets off. This will give you flat pieces of tin.

I want 3 different size trees so I am glueing two of the tin cookie sheets together for my first larger tree.

I will be using the tape measure to create the size of my tree. You will want to place the tape measure across the bottom of your cookie tins which should be about 13 1/2 inches wide . I then held one end of the tape measure in the corner and then brought the other end up and over to for forming the dome for my tree.

I used a marker as I moved the tape measure up and over. You will then cut your dome and glue it together.

You will do this same process for all of your trees.

I used the scrap piece of tin from my larger tree to make a smaller tree.

I used a separate sheet of tin to create my middle tree.

I used the width of the the cookie tin to create my middle tree which is 9 1/2 inches.

If you want your trees to light up then you will need to punch holes in your tin before glueing it together.

I placed the sheet of tin over a sheet of styrofoam. You can use a beef kabob stick to punch your holes. You will want to be sure to have the outside of your tree facing outwards when glueing your dome shape together. This will keep the sharp ends of your holes on the inside of your tree.

You can leave your trees as is or you can paint them. I painted a few green and left a few silver.

I added some battery operated puck lights underneath the trees. This allows light to shine through the holes.

These are so easy to make and there are so many different ways to get creative with them.
