While shopping at Dollar General, I found a small wooden mannequin that sparked a fun idea. This mannequin turned out to be the perfect fit for an elf head I ordered on Amazon, creating a unique and charming DIY holiday decoration.
You will find the list of supplies that I’ll be using for this DIY down below.
1. One wooden manikin from Dollar General
2. One elf head from Amazon
3. Hot glue
4. Scissors
5. Red felt
6. Two cotton balls
7. Paint brush
8. Imperial Red and Coffee Latte acrylic paint by Folk Art
Start by painting the manikin with red paint, leaving the hands unpainted. You’ll use the Coffee Latte paint for the hands in a later step to add a unique, detailed touch.

Barb, this is such an adorable idea. Any child’s memory comes running back seeing an Elf. Especially now, they are a big part of a lot of people’s holiday. Another great craft. Thanks for sharing. Sprinkled this DIY!

Omgoodness Barb…what sweet childhood memories you ‘ve brought back with this elf 😊…growing up , my grandmother had (2) of the original elf’s like this , a red one , and a green one.i would sit in the floor , playing with them for hours , while she and my mom chatted over a cup of coffee☕️. not sure what happened to them , but i would LOVE to make one in memory of my grandmother , and would leave it out year round.
I checked him out earlier too. He is so funny and cute. I don’t have any elf’s in my Christmas decor and would love to make him. I feel like he would come alive on Christmas Eve and make the whole family smile. I would love the wooden manakin Barb. Please and Thank you!
