Today is such a beautiful day that it has me wanting to decorate for Spring. I always love adding flowers throughout my home for Spring and Summer. If you have been following The Shabby Tree then you all know how much I love my dried hydrangeas. I want to create a fun decorative wooden basket for a few of my dried hydrangeas.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. Three embroidery hoops (sizes are 6 inch, 8 inch and 9 inch)

2. One wooden disk with a 6 inch diameter

3. Eight 5 gallon paint sticks

4. Hot glue gun

5. Queen size bed pillow (optional)

6. Ribbon (optional)

You can find 5 gallon paint sticks in Walmart and Home Depot.

I will only be using the inside ring of the embroidery hoops for this basket. You will glue the 6 inch ring to the wooden disk.

Add hot glue to the top of the ring and then place the ring onto the wooden disk.

The next step is to glue the paint sticks onto the inside part of the embroidery hoop. You will want to glue the paint sticks in place at a slight slant.

You will need to add a lot of hot glue to the paint stick and hold it in place for a few minuets.

I first added the four paint sticks as shown above. Each paint sock is across from each other. Once they are glued in place I then glued the other paint sticks in between them.

This gives you a total of 8 paint sticks.

You will then place the paint sticks through the 8 inch embroidery hoop. This is tricky but if you take your time you can slip the embroidery hoop down over all the paint sticks. Be sure to slip the 8 inch on first then the 9 inch.

I added a little hot glue to help hold them in place.

I didn’t like how you can see the hot glue so I decided to add ribbon.

I placed hot glue over the outside of the embroidery hoops and attached the ribbon. I purchased my ribbon from Hobby Lobby.

I added a pillow case to the inside of my basket to act as a liner to the basket. You can glue ribbon the top rim of the pillow case.

This basket can be used so many different ways. It is a fun basket to make and I hope you will all give it a try.
