Dollar Tree Small Wood Frame Makeover

by blewis | Mar 28, 2025 | Everyday DIY, Home Decor | 22 comments

The Dollar Tree recently put out packs of small wood frames. These frames are new to me and I thought it would be fun to get creative with them.
You will find the supplies that I’ll be using for this fun makeover down below.
  1. Small wood frames
  2. Hot glue
  3. Rice paper
  4. Paper plate
  5. Fabric
  6. Recycled can
  7. Mod podge
  8. Magnet
  9. Antique gold Rub’n Buff

The first step is to add the rice paper to the paper plate. I used mod podge for this part.
The next step is to create a raised design onto the wood frame using hot glue.
Once you have the glue added to the frames you’ll then add the Rub’n Buff.
Once you have the Rub’n Buff added you’ll then glue the rice paper to the back of the frame.
I added some fabric to a recycled can.
You can add some of the Rub’n Buff to the top of the can.
You can glue the frame to the can or add a magnet to the back side of the frame. These are so easy to make and can be added to so many different things. The magnet allows you to add them to a magnetic message board. I hope you’ll get creative and give this a try.

Barb, they are beautiful. The frames and pics look old fashion and what a great idea to repurpose the can. I need to make for my pink tulips I ordered .

Cute idea! I’m going to have to grab some to decorate now. I don’t like decorating with hot glue but using it to stick on some lace, trim, etc sounds good. Thanks for the inspiration!
