The stores are starting to put out their Valentine decorations and you know I had to check it all out. I was in Walmart and I purchased a few heart shaped boxes of chocolate. They had a variety of boxes but I bought the lower cost ones. I knew as soon as I saw these boxes that once I eat the chocolate I want to get creative with the box.

The supplies that I’ll be using for this box makeover are:

1. One empty heart box

2. Hot glue

3. Rub’n Buff ( colors Silver Leaf and Ebony)

4. Peel and stick faux metallic tiles from Hobby Lobby

5. Scissors

6. Black paint

7. Paint brush

You get 4 tiles in one pack. I’ll be using 2 tiles for 2 different size heart boxes.

The paper top seems to come right off of the plastic top. I’ll use the paper top as my pattern for the tile.

The first step is to paint the outer parts of the box with the black paint.

If the bottom of the box is coming loose then you can add a little hot glue to secure it in place.

The next step is to use the paper top of the box as your pattern for the tile. You’ll want to cut a tile heart to glue onto the top of the box.

Once you have the heart cut out you might want to get any of the sticky paper off of the back side.

You’ll want to glue the tile heart onto the top of the heart box.

I found it easier to flip the top part of the heart box onto the tile heart. This way allowed me to see if it the top was centered onto the tile heart.

I did the same thing to a smaller heart box.

Once I had the tile heart glued in place I then added some of the Silver Leaf Rub’n Buff over the black painted parts.

The top and bottom of the box should now have a silver color to them.

I cut two of the small flowers from the left over piece of tile.

You will glue each flower onto the center of each heart. I want my hearts to have an antique look which is why I added some of the Ebony colored Rub’n Buff over the entire heart.

I felt like the heart needed something else which is why I decided to glue some chenille ribbon around the edge of each heart.

These were so easy to make and will look great any where in my home. I hope you’ll get creative and give these fun and unique hearts a try.
