I was in Walmart the other day and I came across a glass jar. This glass jar is a beautiful color and as soon as I saw it I knew what I wanted to make. We can easily turn this glass jar into a fun light up scarecrow head.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. One glass jar from Walmart

2. Raffia

3. Scissors

4. Hot glue

5. Sunflower from the Dollar Tree

6. Twine

7. Burlap

8. Paint brush

9. Americana acrylic paint by DecoArt ( Warm White, Lamp Black, Spiced Pumpkin)

The first step is to cut a strip of burlap to create the hat to your scarecrow.

My strip of burlap is 18 inches long and 12 inches wide. Once I had my burlap cut I then started adding some raffia to the glass jar.

I glued shorter strips of raffia to the front center of the jar. These will be the bangs to my scarecrow head. I added more glue to the top of the raffia and then I added the burlap.

I trimmed the raffia and I gave the burlap a small fold at the end before glueing it to the raffia.

You’ll add more raffia going around the rest of the jar. Be sure to have the rest of the raffia long enough to reach the bottom of the jar. The bottom of the jar should be the opening of the jar.

You’ll add hot glue to the jar then add the raffia and then the burlap.

Once you have the raffia and burlap around the entire jar you’ll then tie the top of the burlap. I added some raffia to center of the hat to help give the hat some fullness.

You’ll use the twine to tie the top of the hat. I added some raffia sticking out of the top of my hat.

I glued a sunflower to the front of the hat as shown in photo above.

I painted on a face and added some battery operated lights up into the jar.

This scarecrow was very easy to make and will look great any where in your home. I hope you’ll get creative and give this a try.
