I want to start creating some new Christmas decorations for my home this year. If you’re part of The Shabby Tree then you already know that I love making things that can light up. After looking through some of my craft supplies I decided to make a fun and very easy light up Christmas gift box.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. Four 8×10 inch canvases from the Dollar Tree

2. Hot glue

3. Scissors

4. Burlap

5. Red and white check ribbon

6. Greenery half sphere from our website

7. Mice set from our website

You can use any size canvases that you want for this gift box.

I’m using four 8×10 inch canvases from the Dollar Tree.

The first thing that I did was remove all the canvas from all four frames.

I cut the center of the canvas with the scissors and then pulled the canvas off of the frame.

Once I had the canvas removed from all four frames I then glued the frames together.

I added hot glue down one side of a frame as shown in photo above.

I placed another frame on top of the hot glue as shown in photo above.

I did the same thing to the other side of the first frame.

I then added hot glue down both side frames.

I placed the last frame onto the box.

I added hot glue all along the top of the box.

I then placed a piece of burlap to the top of the box. My burlap was cut slightly bigger then the size of the box so that I can bring it over the sides of the box.

I glued my piece of burlap to the top and then down over the side of the box as shown in photo above.

Once I had the burlap glued to the top of the box I then wrapped burlap around the box.

I added hot glue as I wrapped the burlap.

I folded the end and glued it in place.

Once I had the box covered with the burlap I then glued my ribbon in place.

Once I had the ribbon glued onto the box I then glued on a half sphere.

You can find this half sphere on our website by clicking the link down below.

Once I had the half sphere glued in place I then added my mice. You can find the mice on our website by clicking the link down below.

Once I had the mice all glued in place I decided to cut a small mouse hole into my box.

You can light the box up by adding battery operated string lights or a battery operated candle to the box.

This lighted gift box was so easy to make and will make a great Christmas decoration. I hope you’ll get creative and give this gift box a try.
