How To Make Yarn Pom Poms

I was looking through my craft stash and realized I’ve collected quite a bit of yarn. So I decided it would be fun to whip up some easy yarn pom poms that we can use to get creative!

You’ll just need some yarn, a piece of cardboard, a pair of scissors, and a ruler.

The first thing you’ll do is cut your piece of cardboard. I cut mine about 2 inches wide, but the size you choose will determine how big or small your pom poms turn out.

The length of the cardboard can be whatever you’d like. Mine measures about 4.25 inches long.

Next, cut a small slit into the cardboard, just like you see in the photo above.

The slit is where you’ll want to place a strand of the yarn.

Now it’s time to start wrapping your yarn around the cardboard, as shown in the photo above. I wrapped mine about 40 times.

Once you have the yarn wrapped around the cardboard you’ll then want to pull the ends from the first strip of yarn.

Bring the ends together and tie a secure, tight knot.

Slide the yarn off the cardboard and double-check that your knot is pulled nice and tight.

Next, use your scissors to cut through all of the yarn loops.
