How To Turn A Walmart Mirror Into A Message Board

by blewis | Feb 1, 2025 | Everyday DIY, Home Decor | 15 comments

I was recently in Walmart looking at some of their new home decor items. They have a cute small mirror that I just knew we could creative with.
You can find this mirror on Walmart by clicking my referral link down below.

You’ll find the list of supplies that I’ll be using down below.
1. Surebonder fabric glue
2. Cream fabric
3. Doilies
4. Chalkboard paint
5. Two cork boards from the Dollar Tree
6. Scissors
The first step is to remove the mirror and back board from the frame. I’m painting the back side of the mirror with the chalkboard paint. You can use any chalkboard paint for this. I’m painting the back side of the mirror so that I can still use the mirror if I decide to switch later on.
I did three coats of chalkboard paint with drying time in between each coat.
The next step is to trace the back board of the mirror onto the two cork boards.
Once you have the board traced you’ll then cut the cork boards.
Once you have both cork boards cut you’ll then glue them onto the back board of the mirror.
Once the cork boards are glued in place you’ll then lay the cork boards face down onto the fabric.
You’ll want to cover the cork boards with the fabric. You can use any fabric that you want for this.
You’ll want to glue the fabric going around the back board.
Once you have the fabric glued in place you’ll turn it over and add the doilies.
I decided to spray paint a few Dollar Tree flowers with gold spray paint.
I glued a small thumbtack to the back side of each flower.
This side works perfect for tacking small hang tags or photos.
You can easily flip the board to chalkboard side.
This was very easy to pop back together allowing you to have a double sided message board. I hope you’ll get creative and give this message board a try.
