Mason Jar Lid Flowers

by blewis | Apr 8, 2026 | Easter/Spring, Everyday DIY | 0 comments

Summer is right around the corner and I always like to add a variety of faux flowers throughout my home. Flowers will soften the look of your decor and add pops of color.I thought we could make a few flowers using mason jars lids.
You can find the list of supplies that I’ll be using down below.
1. Mason jar lids ( you can use any size that you want)
2. Hot glue
3. Drill and drill bit
4. Rug from Five Below
5. Small dowels
6. Scissors
7. Green paint

The first step is to drill a hole into the side of the mason jar lid ring. Be sure to make the hole the same size as the dowel you plan to use, so it fits securely in place.

Once you have the hole drilled you’ll then slide the dowel through the hole.
You’ll want to add some hot glue to help secure the end of the dowel in place.
Once the dowels are securely attached to the rings, the next step is to cut strips from your rug. If you don’t have a rug on hand, you can easily use fabric or ribbon as an alternative for this step.
I cut my strips about 8 inches long.

Next, fold each strip in half and place the folded end underneath the ring to begin forming your DIY flower.

Once the strip is folded in half, bring both ends up and through the loop to secure it tightly around the ring.

You’ll do this process going completely around the ring. Once the ring is covered you’ll then want to cover the round top piece.

Add a small amount of hot glue to the top of the ring, then wrap a strip of the rug around it to create a clean, finished look.

Once you have this piece covered you’ll then add some hot glue to the ring.
Once you’ve applied hot glue all the way around the ring, place the round lid piece on top to secure everything in place and complete the base of your DIY flower.
You can do the same process making different colored flowers.

Once your DIY flowers are assembled, you’ll want to paint the dowels to match your decor. You can paint the dowels at the beginning of the project or wait until the end—whichever works best for your crafting process!

These flowers will make a great decoration any where in your home. I hope you’ll get creative and give these flowers a try.
