I know a lot of people seem to like all of the red truck decorations. There was a lot of red truck theme items for Christmas. I wanted a fun and easy way to create a truck ornament. We have done a few crafts using popsicle sticks and I just knew that they would work great for making a truck.
The supplies I will be using are:
1. Popsicle sticks (I will be using 6 popsicle sticks for one truck)
2. Glue gun
3. Red paint
4. Gel stain or brown paint
5. Paint brush
6. Scissors
7. Green pipe cleaners
8. Gold paper
9. Black buttons
The first step is to paint your popsicle sticks. I painted 6 red and one brown.
Now it is time to create the truck.
I first placed 2 popsicle sticks about 2 inches apart. Next I glued 3 popsicles across them. I started about one inch up from the bottom.
Make sure you leave the long ends of the popsicle sticks to the right side. This will be the back of the truck.
You now need to cut the sixth popsicle stick. This will be the piece for the roof of the truck. I measured the width so that I will know how long to cut it.
Be sure to mark the roof and cut the excess pieces of the popsicle sticks off before glueing the roof on.
I then traced the opening of the window onto my paper. I cut the paper larger and then glued it to the back of the truck.
The last step is to make the tree for the back of the truck. I wrapped 3 pipe cleaners around the brown popsicle sticks.
I used a little hot glue to hold them in place. I cut the popsicle stick and then glued the tree to the back of the truck.
I glued a piece of wire to the back of the truck for a hanger.
You can create this truck in a variety of colors.
You can create these trucks for all different holidays. I glued a few paper hearts at the end of one truck for Valentine’s Day.
