Easter will be here before we know it, which means it’s time to finish up those final decorating touches. As I was working on my mantel, I realized it needed one more statement piece to pull everything together. I wanted something large and eye-catching, so I decided to create a simple Easter decoration using cardboard and lace. This is an easy DIY that adds a beautiful touch of Easter charm to your home.

The supplies that I’ll be using are listed down below.

1. Cardboard

2. Lace from our website

3. Doily from our website

4. Scrap piece of cream fabric

5. Surebonder fabric glue

6. Box cutter or x-acto knife

7. Scissors

The first step is to create an egg pattern using a large piece of paper. I used the doily to help determine the size I wanted for my egg before cutting out the pattern.

Once your pattern is cut out, place it onto the cardboard and trace around it to create the shape of your egg.

Next, cut out the egg shape from the cardboard. Once your cardboard egg is ready, you can begin attaching the lace to the front of the cardboard.

Add the Surebonder Fabric Glue to the back side of the lace before placing it onto the cardboard egg. The lace that I’m using can be found on our website, and I’ve added the link for it down below.

Next, add a piece of fabric to the back side of the doily. The doily that I’m using can be found on our website, and I’ve included the link for it down below.

Once the fabric is glued to the doily, attach it to the lace-covered egg to create a pocket. Be sure to fold the top portion down before gluing along the edges. Only glue around the sides and bottom, leaving the center open so it forms a pocket.

Next, add the Surebonder Fabric Glue all along the outer edge of the egg.

For the final step, cut out a few of the lace flowers and glue them onto the folded edge of the pocket for a decorative finishing touch.

This makes a fun Easter decoration that will look great anywhere in your home. You can add a few artificial flowers or even fill the pocket with some Easter goodies. I hope you’ll get creative and give this DIY a try!
