We try to create a lot of things here at The Shabby Tree using recycled items. A few followers have sent me in ideas using soda cans. You can easily create a fun and unique angel using a simple recycled soda can.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. One recycled soda can

2. Paint ( I’m using red, black, natural buff and cream)

3. Paint brush

4. Hot glue

5. Silver pipe cleaner

6. Red crepe paper steamer

7. One small white pom pom

8. Wire

9. Scissors

10. July 4th garland from Hobby Lobby

11. Spanish moss

12. Red ribbon

Remove the tab from the can and push in the inside tab.

You will fold the can as shown in photos below.

Push the center of the can in and bring down the top part.

Push in the lower back section as shown in photo above.

Bring the bottom part up.

Once you have the can folded it is time to paint the can. I painted the whole can white except for the top section.

It took me about 3 coats to completely cover the can.

I painted the inside area with the red paint as shown in photo above.

I used the natural buff colored paint on the top section of the can.

I used the black paint to create eyes.

I painted the small pom pom with the natural buff paint for a nose.

You will glue on the pom pom for nose and then glue on some spanish moss for the hair.

I cute 3 strips of the crepe paper streamer about 7 inches long.

I glued all three strips to the back as shown in photo above.

I added a strip of wire up under the top folded area of the can and then brought the ends up . This will create a hanger for the angel.

I cut a strip of the July 4th garland and wrapped the ends around the wire hanger.

This is very easy to create and turns out to be a fun and unique angel. I hope you will get creative and give this a try.
