If you’ve been following along, you know I’ve been slowly working through some big updates in my home. One of the biggest decisions for me was flooring. Floors are such a huge part of the overall feel of a space… and I wanted something that was going to hold up, look beautiful, and be installed by people I could actually trust.
I ended up going with Floor Coverings International, and today I wanted to share why I chose them, what the experience was like, and what really made them stand out to me.
I’ll be sharing a few of the before photos below so you can see the original floors and the areas we are updating.
One of the biggest changes happening is in our bedroom. We decided to remove all of the carpet and replace it with hardwood. I really wanted the bedroom to flow and feel cohesive with the rest of the house — especially since we already have hardwood downstairs. Matching the flooring throughout just made sense visually, and I think it’s going to make the entire space feel cleaner, brighter, and more finished.
I can already picture how much warmer and more timeless the room is going to feel once the new floors are in!
We also plan on giving the existing hardwood a fresh new life by having it sanded down and restained. I didn’t want to replace what we already had — I just wanted it to look more updated, richer, and more consistent with the new flooring we’re bringing in.
And while we’re at it… we’re doing a full stair refresh too! We’re removing the carpet on the stairs, painting the stair treads and risers, adding a carpet runner for a softer look and safer grip, and even changing out the railing and adding balusters. I think this is going to make such a dramatic difference and really tie the entire transformation together as one cohesive look.
We’re also making some big changes in the living room. This space currently has carpet, and we’ll be removing all of it and installing the same hardwood that’s going in the bedroom. I really wanted the main areas of the house to flow together visually — and using the same flooring throughout creates such a cleaner, more cohesive look. I think the living room is going to instantly feel more open and polished once the hardwood is in.
Every bit of carpet upstairs is getting replaced as well — and I’m so excited about this change! We picked out an amazing flooring option for the upstairs that Mr. Wally absolutely loved. I think this is going to completely transform the whole feel of the second level. Instead of different flooring in different rooms, everything will finally flow together and feel intentional and finished.
