I will be changing up my mantel and adding some Americana decor. We have been changing up a few wooden items using a metallic paint by DecoArt. I recently bought a wooden crate from Michaels that I would love to use to create a fun and unique flag.
The items that I will be using are:
1. One wooden crate ( I purchased mine from Michaels)
2. Paint brush
3. DecoArt Americana Decor Metallics ( I’m using the color Obsidian)
4. DecoArt Americana acrylic paint ( colors Santa Red, Warm White and Deep Midnight Blue)
The first step is to paint the entire crate with the metallic obsidian.
Once the metallic paint is dry you will then paint the upper left section with the Deep Midnight Blue as shown in photo below.
You will add the Santa Red and Warm White to create the stripes of the flag.
I lightly brushed on the acrylic paint to let the metallic paint show through.
I used a small paint brush to create a few stars.
This is very easy to create and looks great with some battery operated candles added to the back. I will be adding this to the center of my mantel for some Americana decor. I hope you will get creative and give this a try.
