Wooden Slat Tree Makeover

by blewis | Sep 6, 2024 | Christmas/Winter, Holiday | 53 comments

We recently put the cutest wooden slat tree on our website and I want to get creative with it. This is a great tree as is but I want to give it a little makeover. This makeover will allow you to change this tree up for all different holidays and season.
This will be a quick and easy makeover. You can see what supplies I’ll be using down below.
1. One scrap piece of lace the size of my tree
2. Heirloom White colored spray paint
3. Hot glue
4. Magnetic buttons
5. Bling embellishments from Totally Dazzled
You can find this tree on our website by clicking the link down below.
https://theshabbytreeboutique.com/slat-tree-christmas/
You’ll want to lay your piece of lace over the tree as shown in photo above. My lace is from a piece of a curtain from local thrift store.
Once you have your lace in place you’ll then spray the spray paint over the lace.
Once you lift the lace you should have a beautiful print.
Once the spray paint is dry the next step is to glue the magnetic buttons in place.
You’ll glue the magnets where ever you want to place a bling embellishment.
Once you have the magnet glued to the tree you’ll then glue another magnet to the back side of the bling.
The magnets will allow you to easily change out different bling for different holidays or seasons.
You can find the bling embellishments that I’m using on Totally Dazzled by clicking my referral link down below.

This tree turned out amazing and will look great any where in your home. I hope you’ll get creative and give this makeover a try.

I like this tree so much better with the white paint and that was the perfect lace to use. The flowers transferred over so nicely. Very pretty! I can picture it with Christmas or Anericana bling. Beautiful job!

I love the tree as is but Barb, your makeover is magical- not so drastic than it takes away from the simplistic beauty of the tree, but subtle and classic, adding a perfect touch of elegance! It makes a strong statement without screaming, but whispering its beauty! Bravo Barb-who would not love it? I would love in my home as year decor!❤️❤️❤️

So beautiful and what a great idea to use magnets to change out the bling for different seasons. I am definitely going to do this. I already have lots of totally dazzled bling for all different seasons, the Lace and spray paint. All I need is the tree. Thank you for another awesome idea Barb. ❤
