How To Turn A Mason Jar Into A Tissue Holder

by blewis | Jan 22, 2025 | Everyday DIY, Home Decor | 20 comments

It’s been very cold outside and it seems like everyone has some type of sniffles. Since I have tissue boxes all throughout the house I thought I would get creative and make some cute tissue holders.
The supplies that I’ll be using are listed down below.
1. Wide mouth mason jar
2. Plastic wide mouth mason jar lids
3. Drill and 2” hole saw bit
4. Hot glue
5. Ribbons and doilies
6. Bling
7. Gold rub’n buff
8. Mod podge sealer spray
9. Enamel glass paint by FolkArt
The first step is to wash your mason jars and wipe them with some rubbing alcohol.
You’ll want to paint the mason jars with the glass paint. You can paint the mason jar any color that you want. I purchased the glass paint from Walmart.
It took two coats of paint to cover the mason jar. Be sure to give drying time in between each coat of paint.
Once you have the mason jars painted you’ll then want to drill a hole into the plastic lids.
I purchased my mason jars and lids from Walmart.
Once you have the hole in the lid you’ll then add the gold rub’n buff.
I used hot glue to add some ribbon, doily and bling to the jar.
Once your jar is finished you’ll want to add some tissues. You can purchase round tubes of tissues that work perfect for these jars. I did not have any tubes of tissues so I just used some from a box.
You’ll want to pull some out of the box and then fold them in half.
Once folded in half you’ll want to place them down into the jar.
These tissue jars will look great any where in your home. I love making these for a fun and unique gift idea. I hope you’ll get creative and give this a try.

I absolutely love the mason jar Kleenex project! Gorgeous! So much prettier than a box that never seems to match decor! I can’t wait to make some for every room in my apt.
