I’ve always loved decorating for every holiday and season, so I thought it would be fun to make something a little different this time. As I was looking through my decor, I decided I wanted a piece that could work by the front door or next to my fireplace mantel. After digging through my supplies, I realized we could put together a quick and easy botanical broom—and it’s such a cute touch for any space!
The supplies that I’ll be using are listed down below.
1. One limb from a tree
2. Fabric strips from a rag rug
3. Floral stems
You’ll want to trim away any small branches or twigs from the tree limb so you’re left with a clean, smooth base for your broom handle.
You can use any type of floral stems you like to make this broom your own. The ones I’m using are all from our website, which I’ve linked down below. For mine, I went with 6 cypress pine sprays, 3 fall floral picks, and 3 orange peony stems for a mix of greenery, texture, and color.
I’m using rag strips from a Five Below rug to secure my stems in place, but you could easily swap them out for ribbon or twine. Just wrap them tightly around the base to hold everything together and add a little extra charm.
You’ll want to position the floral stems at the bottom of the tree limb, leaving about 10 inches of the limb showing in the center. This extra space makes the handle easy to hold and gives the broom a nice balanced look.
I kept all of my floral stems at their full length, except for the peonies. I gave those a quick trim so they would sit a bit higher above the other stems, adding some height and dimension to the broom.
Once your stems are arranged the way you like, wrap the fabric strips snugly around them to hold everything in place. Keep wrapping until they feel secure and the broom has that nice, finished look.
This broom comes together so quickly and easily, and you can customize it for any holiday or season. I hope you’ll have fun getting creative and give this charming DIY a try!
