The Dollar is putting out their Americana decorations and they have a wooden color your own mason jar decoration. I knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted to do a fun makeover with it. There is so much you can do with unfinished wooden items. Looking at it I just knew it would make a fun hanging jar with flowers.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. Wooden color your own mason jar decoration from the Dollar Tree

2. Dremel

3. Paint (sea glass and traditional burnt umber)

4. Twine

5. Scissors

6. Hot glue

7. Flowers (I am using our diy coffee filter hydrangeas. You can find the blog down below)

The first thing I did was paint both sides of the wooden canning jar with the burnt umber. This will take a few coats.

Once the burnt umber was dry I then I added the sea glass over the burnt umber. I did not add this to the top rim area.

I then glued the stem of the coffee filter hydrangea to the back side of the rim area.

I will be wrapping the twine around the top rim. You will want to start wrapping the twine from the back side. Add some hot glue to hold the beginning of the twine in place.

Once the twine was completely wrapped around the rim I just added hot glue to secure the end in place. I used a pencil to write the word Ball on the front side of the wooden mason jar.

I then used the Dremel to engrave out the word.

I added some wire at top for a hanger.

This is very easy to create and can be hung any where in your home. You can create these in a variety of colors and they would make great ornaments for a larger tree.

I hope this will inspire you to have fun and get creative.
