How To Make A Pillow Out Of A Drying Mat

by blewis | Feb 11, 2025 | Holiday | 7 comments

We have been getting the cutest drying mats on our website. These drying mats look great in any kitchen but I want to get creative with them. I thought it would be fun and very easy to turn a drying mat into a decorative pillow.
The supplies that I’ll be using are a seam ripper, poly fil , needle and thread.
The first step is to remove the stitching that goes down the center of the drying mat.
Be careful not to rip the drying mats. You’ll want to use the seam reaper to remove a few stitches. Once I had a few stitches cut I then I used my hands to pull the front and back piece of material which helped to pull the thread.
Once you get both lines of stitching removed you’ll then want to create a small opening on the side of the mat.
When you have the opening made you’ll then add the stuffing.
Once the pillow is stuffed you’ll then sew the opening shut.
The top of the pillow will have a small loop which you’ll want to cut off.
You can use the thread to sew down the ends.
This turned out to be such a fun pillow that will look great any where in your home. I hope you’ll get creative and give this pillow a try.
