If you have been following The Shabby Tree then you already know that I love creating fun and unique items. Summer is right around the corner and it is time to start thinking about Memorial Day and Fourth of July. I have an idea for a fun and unique flag t-shirt.
The supplies I will be using are:
1. One t-shirt (I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby)
2. Surebonder fabric glue
You can find a variety of t-shirts in Hobby Lobby which work amazing for this idea.
You will want to place a piece of cardboard up in between the t-shirt.
You will want to find at least two different ribbons to create your flag. I am using all neutral colored ribbons because I was afraid a red ribbon would bleed in the wash. This thicker cream ribbon is from Hobby Lobby.
I cut three strips of this ribbon about 13 inches long.
I am also using a ribbon that is from the trim of a slip. I am always looking for slips or curtains that I can cut and use as ribbons.
I will be using a few different size doilies to create the star area of the flag. You can find doilies on amazon, thrift stores and antique stores. You will find my amazon affiliate link down below for the doilies I like to use.
Once you have all of your ribbons and doilies in place you will want to use the surebonder fabric glue to attach everything to the t-shirt.
I added the glue to the center area of my wider ribbons.
It is hard to glue the outer edge of this ribbon because if all of the holes. I am using another ribbon that will work well for glueing over the edges of the wider ribbons.
I added the thinner ribbon to cover all of the edges of the wider ribbons.
I then glued the largest doily on first.
I added two smaller doilies in the center of the larger doily.
There are so many different ways to create this fun flag t-shirt. You can create different flags by using different ribbons and doilies. I love how this turned out and I hope you will all get creative and give this a try.
