Ok Spring is approaching and it’s time to start thinking about how you want to decorate. It’s always fun to add a variety of flowers throughout your home for Spring. We have created a few different types of flowers here at The Shabby Tree. I thought it would be fun to create some unique flowers using simple shipping paper.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. Shipping paper

2. Pipe cleaners ( I’ll be suing 12 pipe cleaners for one flower)

3. Hot glue

4. Elmer’s glue

5. Mango colored glittered

6. Cream colored chalky finish paint by DecoArt

7. Americana acrylic paint by DecoArt ( color Marigold)

8. Scissors

9. Paint brush

10. poly-fil stuffing

You can create this flower to be any color, size and shape that you want.

I folded my pipe cleaner in half and created my petals a little larger then the pipe cleaner.

You want to be sure to fold the shipping paper in half when tracing the petals. This will give you two pieces for each petal.

You’ll want to cut out all the petals first. I’m using 12 petals for one flower. Once you have all of your petals cut out you’ll want to glue the two petal pieces together. Be sure to glue the pipe cleaner in between the two petal pieces.

I glued the pipe cleaner onto the paper and then added more hot glue.

You will add the second petal piece on top as shown in photo below.

You’ll do the same process to all of your petals. The next step is to cut out the center to your flower.

I traced a 5 inch bowl to create the center to my flower.

Once you have the center circles cut out you’ll then glue your petals onto one piece.

I glued four petals on first as shown in photo below and then I added the rest of the petals.

Once you have the petals all glued in place it’s then time to add the other center piece.

I glued half of the circle and then added some stuffing.

Once you add the stuffing you’ll want to glue the opening shut.

The next step is to paint your flower.

I painted the center with the Marigold and then I added some Elmer’s glue and glitter.

You can add some string or wire to the back side to hang your flower.

You can find the glitter I am using right here at this link

These are so easy to make and I love how you can create them any size and color that you want.

I hope you’ll get creative and give this fun and unique flower a try.
