I have been going through my craft supplies and I seem to have a lot of yarn. There are so many things to create out of yarn but I want to try something different. After looking through my supplies I decided to use a Dollar Tree cutting board with the yarn and create a fun heart.
The supplies I will be using are:
1. Cream colored yarn
2. Dollar Tree bamboo cutting board
3. Hammer
4. Walnut colored gel stain by DecoArt
5. Paint brush
6. Nails (mine are 3/4inch
7. Paper and pencil
8. Scissors
The first thing I did was stain the cutting board. You can leave the cutting board as is or add a paint or stain to it.
Once my board was stained I then cut out a heart pattern from the paper.
You will want to trace the heart onto the cutting board.
I decided to do a heart because I’m starting to decorate for Valentine’s Day. You can cut out any image that you want.
You will want to start adding the nails once your image is traced onto the cutting board.
I lightly hammered the nails into the board. You can space them apart as far as you want. I tried to space my nails about 1 inch apart.
Once I had the nails all in place I tied the yarn to the bottom center nail. You can start your yarn any where you want.
I then wrapped the yarn around each nail as I worked my way around the heart.
Once I got the outline of the heart complete I then started to zig zag the yarn.
I continued to zig zag the yarn until I had the yarn around all of the nails. You can tie a knot around one of the nails to end it.
I made a hang tag to tie onto the heart.
This is so easy to make and I love how you can create any type of image that you want.
