Well now that Spring is here and it is time to start enjoying the outside I thought it would be fun to create a wind chime. I seem to be on an owl kick lately so I thought it would be fun to creat an owl wind chime. This wind chime is easy and made from recycled items.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. One large recycled can from a Pizza Sauce

2. One lid from a small can good item

3. Two small tart tins (you can also use two tuna fish cans)

4. Five forks from the Dollar Tree

5. Wire or fishing line

6. Twine

7. Drill and drill bit

8. Four small screws

9. Needle nose pliers

The first step is to drill a hole through the top of the forks. This takes pressure and a little time to get through the fork.

I then attached the tart tins to the can using small screws. These will be the eyes to my owl.

I drilled a hole through the tart tin first and then screwed the tart tin to the can.

I used screws that I had but you can use any type of screws that you want.

The next step is to bend the small lid in half to form the beak.

You will bend the lid and then fold the bottom sides outward. This will allow you to be able to screw the beak in place.

I want the can open on both ends so I had to open the bottom of the can.

It is now time to attach the forks to the can. I drilled 5 holes around the bottom of the can. My holes are about 3 1/2 inches apart.

I used wire to hang the forks from the can but I think fishing line would work better. I seem to be out of fishing line at the moment so I went with wire.

I wrapped the wire around the hole in the can and then the hole on the fork.

I drilled two holes at the top of the can to add a piece of twine for hanging.

This is just a fun idea I wanted to share because there are so many different ways to get creative with this wind chime. I hope you will start to look at your everyday recycled items and find a way to get creative with them.
