Spring is here and I love having flowers throughout my home. I am always recycling and saving items to create fun and unique things with. You can create a fun container for a few flowers using a recycled can and a few wooden shims.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. One recycled can (my can is 4 1/2 inches high)

2. Wooden shims (I am using 8 inch shims)

3. White chalk paint

4. Hot glue

5. Scissors or pruning shears

6. Twine

The first step is to paint your can. You can paint just the outside or you can paint inside and outside.

Once my can was painted I then cut the thinner end of the wooden shims. I snipped the sides with pruning shears to create the look of a picket fence piece.

Once I had all the shims cut I hot glued them to the can. I leaned them all up against the can first to see how many to use and how much space to leave between them.

Once the shims were all glued in place I painted them with the chalk paint.

I took a piece of twine and wrapped it around the can a few times. I tied a knot in the front and then I added a cute hang tag for Mother’s Day.

This is so easy to create and will look great with a few flowers for summer. I hope you will get creative and give this a try.
