I was recently in Walmart and came across a wood cigar box in their craft section. As soon as I saw this box I knew I wanted to turn it into a purse.

You can find the list of supplies that I’ll be using for this diy down below.
1. One wood cigar box from Walmart
2. One sheet of rice paper
3. Drill and drill bit
4. Hot glue
5. Mod Podge
6. Two sheets of felt
7. Iron
8. Parchment paper
9. Beads
10. Wire
11. Rich Espresso Metallic paint
12. Antique Gold Rub’n Buff

The first step is to paint the cigar box. I did not paint the entire top of the box because that is where I’ll be adding the rice paper.

Once you have the box painted you’ll then cut the felt to glue to the inside of the purse.

You’ll want to make the strap to your purse before covering the top inside trim of the box.

You’ll want to make two marks onto the box where you’ll drill the holes for the handle to the purse.
Be sure to measure your marks so that they will be even on each side.

Once you have the holes drilled you’ll then add the beads to the wire. You can use any type of beads that you want.

Place the wire through the holes and then twist the ends together.

Once you have the wire twisted and secured in place you’ll then add the felt.

Once you have the handle added you’ll then add the rice paper to the top.

You’ll want to add Mod Podge onto the top of the box and then place the rice paper on top. You can find the rice paper that I’m using on European Excellency by clicking my referral link down below.

Once you have the rice paper added you can then place the parchment paper on top and then use the iron over the rice paper.

I removed the excess rice paper with a sanding tool.

I added a touch of antique gold Rub’n Buff here and there. This is an optional step.

This purse is so easy to make and will make a fun decoration. There are so many different ways to create this purse. You will see the two that we made in our VIP group down below.

I hope you’ll get creative and give this diy a try.

omgoshes – I LOVE this — I cannot keep up with all of the wonderful and creative projects you do! This is so elegant – I LOVE it!!!! I finally found some wood hang tags at my Wal-Mart and I am going to practice decoupaging napkins before I jump into big projects like this one…… I bought resin too but it’s still in the box – but I did buy another wood tree during wacky Wednesday so hoping I get creative and try resin.
