It seems like all of the stores are starting to put their spring decorations out. This has my mind on spring and when I think about spring I think about bunnies and carrots. I wanted a way to create quick and easy carrots to use in my dough bowls.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. Wooden shims

2. Scissors

3. Raffia

4. Paint (green, orange and walnut gel stain)

5. Paint brush

6. Glue gun

The first step is to cut the wooden shim. You can make two carrots out of one wooden shim. I want these carrots to look like a primitive carrot so I am not cutting them to be any certain shape.

Once you have your shims cut into the shape of your carrots you will then paint them.

I am painting the carrots orange and then adding a walnut stain to give them a more grungy look.

The next step is to gather a few strands of raffia and paint them green.

I did not completely cover all of the raffia with the green paint. I wanted some of the tan color to show.

You will fold the raffia in half and glue it to the top of your carrot.

These are so easy to make and can be placed any where in your home.

They will make great bowl fillers . You can also add these to your all year long tree or place them onto a wreath. I hope you will all get creative and give these a try.
