I recently bought some American flag print napkins from Tuesday Morning. They have a variety of beautiful napkins but I have a craft idea for the flag napkin. I recently purchased a few small wooden pallets from the Dollar Tree that are the perfect shape and size for the flag napkins. We create a lot of items here at The Shabby Tree but I have never created anything using a burn technique with napkins. The burn technique is optional for what we will be making but I think it will make this Diy a lot easier. I will be creating an Americana print box using the American flag print napkin.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. Four small wooden pallets from the Dollar Tree 2. Decoupage by DecoArt

3. Paint brush

4. Oak colored Gel Stain by DecoArt

5. Hot glue

6. Lighter

7. American flag print napkins from Tuesday Morning

8. Scissors

The first step is to paint all four wooden pallets with the Gel Stain.

Once you have the pallets painted you will then add the napkins. Be sure to separate the layers of napkins. You will only want to use the top layer of the napkin.
Add a coat of the decoupage to the top of the pallet.
I cut the napkin into smaller sections to fit each pallet.
Be sure to smooth out the napkin and press out any lumps or bubbles.
You can use your finger to cut the napkin down the crease lines of the pallet.
You will use the lighter to burn the edges of the napkin. The burn technique will allow the napkin to be smooth around all of the edges of the wood. I like using the burn technique for this pallet because it evenly trims the napkin up between the layers of the pallet.
I did this too all four pallets.
I used hot glue to attach all four pallets together to form a box.
This is very to make and looks great with a battery operated candle. I hope you will get creative and give this a try.
