I have been trying to create some fun and easy ornaments using items that you have in your home. I’m a big coffee drinker so I always have a lot of coffee filters. You can easily create a fun tree ornament using coffee filters and cardboard.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. Cardboard

2. Hot glue

3. Scissors

4. Coffee filters (I’m using the brown colored coffee filters)

5. Twine (I got my twine from the Dollar Tree)

6. Star sticker (optional)

The first step is to cut your tree out Olof cardboard. You will want to make the trunk if your tree longer because the coffee filter will cover some of it.

I cut my trunk about 4 inches long. Next step is to fold a coffee filter in half. I’m folding the coffee filter so that it over laps leaving about a half inch of the back side showing.

You will now start to glue the coffee filters onto the cardboard tree.

I’m working my way from the bottom up. The first coffee filter will cover the top area of your trunk.

You want to make sure the coffee filter covers all of the cardboard.

I continue adding coffee filters until I get to the very top.

I then flip the tree over and cut the excess off.

I use some of the excess pieces to add to the top of the tree.

One we the Tree is covered and the excess is all cut off I then add some hot glue the center underneath of the coffee filters. This helps to hold them all down and in place.

I add hot glue to the trunk and wrap the twine around.

I add the star sticker to the top.

You can add paint to them if you like. These are so easy to make and there are so many ways you can decorate them or change them up.
