I am always trying to find old and rusty tin items to add to my home decor. It is hard to find certain items and I recently came across a product by DecoArt called Designer Finishes. They have different types of finishes but I will be using the rusty tin finish. This will allow me to give a recycled can an old rusty tin appearance.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. One large recycled tin can

2. Hot glue

3. Elmer’s glue

4. Paint brush

5. Paintable wallpaper (I got this from Home Depot)

6. DecoArt Designer Finish (I am using the rusty tin)

7. Cinnamon

The first thing I did was cut a piece of the wallpaper to fit my can.

I am adding the Elmer’s glue all over the can and then applying the wallpaper.

I added a little hot glue to the end of the wallpaper.

You can rub some of the Elmer’s glue down the seam to secure it all down in place.

The Designer Finishes has all the step by step directions on the back of the packaging. You will see that the first step is to paint the tin onto your item.

Once the tin is completely dry you will then add the Texture and the Georgia Clay. You will mix even amounts of each together.

You will add this mixture here and there over the tin. I am adding a lot of this mixture because I want my whole bucket to appear as rusty tin.

Once is is dry you will then apply the Asphaltum.

You will want to be sure to dip your brush into water and then into the Asphaltum.

I also added a lot of cinnamon over the Asphaltum to help give it that rusty appearance.

I drilled two holes into my bucket to add a wire handle.

This is so easy to create and you can use this product on so many different things. I just love how this bucket turned out and will look great with my flowers.

I hope you will all get creative and have fun with this.
