I seem to always find myself looking at things and trying to figure out how it can be turned into a tree. There are so many different triangle shaped items I have been seeing lately. I found a bunch of wooden triangles in the Dollar Tree that resembled a shadow box. I knew when I saw these triangles that we could easily create some fun trees with these.
The supplies I will be using for this tree are:
1. Wooden triangle shadow box (I got these from the Dollar Tree)
2. Hot glue
3. Thick jute or twine
4. Empty food can
5. Green paint (I’m using Hauser Medium Green by DecoArt)
6. Paint brush
7. Embellishment for top
These wooden triangles I am using are from the Dollar Tree but you can use this tree idea for almost any wooden triangle item that you have. These are like a shadow box but I think you can also create these trees using a triangle canvas.
The first thing I did was paint the inside of the triangle with green paint.
The next thing I did was cover my can with a thick jute. I used hot glue to add the jute to the outside of the can. You will want to be sure to cover the bottom of the can. The bottom of the can will be where you will add the wooden triangle to.
If you get the wooden triangles from the Dollar Tree then you might be able to find some of this thick rope there too. You can use anything you want to cover the can.
Once the can is completely covered then you will want to glue on the wooden triangle.
Now it is time to decorate your tree. I added some pom pom ribbon to one and some silver tinsel to the other.
I just zig zagged my tinsel and ribbon back and forth and used the hot glue to hold it in place.
I hot glued a bling embellishment to the top of each tree. These are so easy to make and there are so many different ways you can create them.
