It is time to start decorating my porch for the summer. If your following The Shabby Tree then you already know that I keep artificial trees on my porch all year long. I have incorporated a lot of cream and black onto my porch and I wanted to create some cream flowers for my trees. There are so many different ways to make flowers but I wanted something that can be created in a variety of sizes.

The supplies you will need for this project are:

1. Wooden discs (you can find these in Hobby Lobby or on Amazon)

2. Drill and drill bits

3. Hot glue

4. Scissors

5. Material (I am using warm and natural)

6. Ink pen

7. Piece of paper or cardboard

8. Wire

9. Sticks from a tree (optional)

10. Wire cutters

11. Kabob stick (optional)

The wooden discs that I buy come in a variety of sizes. I love these because it allows me to create the flowers in different sizes.

The first step is to drill holes into the sides of the wooden discs. You will decide what size drill bit to use according the the thickness of your wooden discs. These holes are where you will be inserting the petals for your flowers.

You will drill holes around the whole wooden disc. I left about a half inch space in between each hole. I did not measure the space I just eyeballed it as I went around.

You now need to cut out a pattern for the petals to your flowers. I am just drawing the size of petal that I feel will fit all of the wooden discs.

Cut your pattern out and then trace the petals onto your material. I am using warm and natural for my petals but you can use any type of material you want. You will need to trace and cut out the petals for all of the holes that you drilled into your wooden discs.

Once all of your petals are cut out you will need to start inserting them into the holes . I am placing a small amount of hot glue into the hole and then inserting the end of my petal.

I am using a kabob stick to help insert the end of the petal into the hole.

You will continue adding the petals around the whole wooden discs.

I want to hang these flowers on the trees on my porch and also add them to the garland around my front door. There are a few ways to hang these but I found it easiest to drill 2 holes in the center to attach them with wire.

You can also give these flowers a stem by adding a small stick from a tree into one of the drilled holes.

These turn out so cute and you can create them any color flower you would like. You can add these to a tree, a wreath or place them into a vase. I hope you will all get creative and give these a try.
