I was in the Dollar Tree and they were putting out their Valentine decorations. There was a large styrofoam heart that I thought would be fun to get creative with. I recently bought a few wooden hearts from HomeGoods that have a lace over them. A lot of our followers seem to love the hearts from HomeGoods which had my mind going. I thought it would be fun to try and make the Dollar Tree foam heart to look similar to the HomeGoods heart.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. One Dollar Tree jumbo craft heart

2. Mod podge

3. Paint brush

4. Lace material

5. Pom pom ribbon from Hobby Lobby

6. Hot glue

7. Dark chocolate paint by DecoArt

8. Silver glitter

9. Scissors

The first step is to paint the heart .

You can paint the heart any color that you want. I am using a chocolate brown because I want it to have a wood look. Once you have the heart painted you will want to cut your lace.

I will only be covering the top half if the heart with the lace. You will want to add the mod podge onto the heart and then add the lace on top of the mod podge.

You will want to add more mod podge over the lace.

You can use your fingers to smooth out the lace as you add the mod podge.

Once the lace is all secure in place I then added on the pom pom ribbon.

I added a small amount of hot glue around the edge of the lace to secure the ribbon in place.

I wanted to add a touch of glitter so I added more mod podge and sprinkled on a light coat of glitter.

This heart is very easy to make and will look great displayed any where in your home. I hope you will get creative and give this a try.
