I recently saw a few patchwork eggs that looked amazing and were made with material. We are always getting creative here at The Shabby Tree and I thought this technique would be fun to try. I want to change things up and I want to try creating a patchwork ball but with napkins instead of material.
The supplies I will be using are:
1. Napkins
2. Styrofoam ball ( any size you want)
3. Scissors
4. Craft stick or plastic knife
5. Silver pipe cleaners ( optional)
You will want to use the plastic knife or craft stick to create a patchwork effect into the styrofoam ball.
You want to cut your napkins into smaller pieces. Do not cut your pieces too small because you will be using these pieces to cover each patchwork section on the styrofoam ball.
You will use the plastic knife to press the ends of the napkin down into your lines that you created in the styrofoam ball. The deeper you make the lines the easier the napkin will push in.
You will cover all of the sections with the napkin. I decided to add silver pipe cleaner down into all of the lines. This is an optional step but I love how it turns out.
You can add a dab of hot glue to hold the ends of the pipe cleaner in place.
You can use any size styrofoam ball and any print napkin.
These are fun to make and can be created for all holidays.
I hope you will get creative and give this a try.
